A Beautiful Dark
On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.
Angel books have always been up there in my favorites category, but this one left me feeling slightly disappointed. The story follows Skye while she learns of the Angelic beings here on earth and the powers that they possess, and why they have chosen to reveal themselves to her. From reading the back cover, you'd think that she was completely torn between two angels that were sent to help her find her own powers, and at times she is torn, but there's to much of the torn and not enough detail. I felt that J. Davies jumped around alot and didn't provide enough for her characters.
The characters were okay... I didn't care much for Skye though. She wasn't a heroine that I could connect with. Although there was enough there to hold my attention, I won't have book 2 to this series on the top of my list.
